Members & Fellows: High Tea & Historic Home Visit

August 17, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$35

Members and Fellows of Odd Salon are cordially invited for Tea and a Tour at the Pardee Home in Oakland on the afternoon of Sat, Aug 17.

Have you been feeling like it’s high time you had an opportunity to put on your fancy duds? Ever wondered what it was like to live in Oakland at the turn of the LAST century? Odd Salon fellow Barbara North has been kind enough to arrange for an outing that takes care of both these desires.

On Saturday August 17th we’ll be gathering for Tea and a Tour at the Pardee Home in Oakland. High tea will be served at noon in the dining room, with the tour to follow at 2pm. Eight seats are available for $35 each. The tour does involve stairs and lasts about one and a half hours.

Never heard of it? Here’s an appetizer course of history to wet your whistle before the main course on the 17th:

The Pardee House was built in 1868-69 by Enoch Pardee, a Gold Rush immigrant to California from the Midwest. It was continuously occupied by the family until 1981, when it was turned into a museum. The Pardees were avid collectors and public servants holding office both in Oakland and at the state level. George Pardee was governor during the 1906 earthquake.

High tea at the Pardee Home Museum has been listed by BBC America as number six of ten most British things in Oakland. Book soon to secure your spot!
