Private tour of Oakland’s Aviation Museum
Nov 14, 2pm | Oakland Aviation Museum
$10 Members & Fellows/$20 Non-Members
Uncover the role that Oakland has played in the rich history of aviation. Join Odd Salon Fellow and pilot/docent Dan Von Hoyel at the Oakland Aviation Museum for an in-person guided walk-around tour of more than a dozen historic aircraft. Hear technical tidbits and colorful stories about these magnificent flying machines and the women and men who flew them.
Aircraft featured in this (mostly) hands-on tour include a Grumman F-14A Tomcat (like from the movie Top Gun), a Korean War flown Soviet Mig-15, a Wright Brothers’ 1911 Model EX, a Douglas A3D Skywarrior (the largest carrier-based bomber), an A-6 Intruder, and the world’s only remaining 1945 Short Solent Mk. III flying boat (once owned by Howard Hughes and appeared in the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark).
Odd Salon Covid-19 protocols for tours and gatherings: All attendees must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination and masks are required indoors. Please be prepared to follow any updated city, state, or federal precautions as needed.
