Odd Salon Members/Fellows SF: Tattoos in Japanese Prints Exhibit
July 27, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
$23
Odd Salon Members & Fellows in San Francisco are invited to join Odd Salon Fellow Seth Rosenblatt, former Tokyo resident and Japan enthusiast, for a look at the Asian Art Museum’s incredible exhibit dedicated to the art and history of Japanese tattoos.
Sat, July 27:
Tattoos in Japanese Prints Exhibit, at the San Francisco Asian Art Museum
“Tattoos in Japanese Prints” is a summer-long exhibition at the Asian Art Museum. More than 60 prints showcase the reciprocal nature of tattoo artists who also illustrated texts and woodblock prints, influencing their competitors and the tattoo recipients. While these woodblock print depictions of tattoos evolved over time, their lineage can be traced into modern tattoo trends. As the museum notes: art and life influenced each other.
After checking out the exhibit together we will gather nearby to discuss it, casual salon-style.
This event is for Odd Salon Members and Fellows. If you’re a Member or Fellow, you should have received the Eventbrite password in an email – buy your tickets here!
