RUIN
September 23, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$15From crumbling relics of cultures who once ruled to the sad shells of individuals once on high, the memento-mori of loss and the schadenfreude of failure, there is an undeniable beauty in ruin. We take perverse delight in the downfall of celebrities and are drawn in by images of ancient ruins and modern decay.
Join us for an evening investigating the allure of messy ends, exploring the economic, social, ecological, and archeological ruins which captivate our imaginations.
Featuring:
Hernan Pelassini ~ Detroit: The Ruin & the Phoenix
Douglas Worley ~ The Ruiner: Heinrich Schliemann & the Discovery of Troy
Christina Macias ~ Chernobyl: “Just Breath, Blink & Radiate”
Frederick Lightning Leist ~ Balkh: From Metropolis to Debris Field (with a little help from Genghis Khan)
Annetta Black ~ Beautiful Lies: The Myth of Discovery at Angkor
Rachel James ~ Bones, Botulism & Bocce Ball: The Fickle Faces of an Accidental Sea
